COMMUNITIES
CLEAN POWER PRODUCTION
The Biomass power plant located at MALPURA, when commissioned
in mid 2011, shall generate approximately 60 millions units of
grid quality clean electricity per annum.
FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT
FUEL MAP FROM FIELD TO THE PLANT
|

|
Mustard residue used as
Biomass fuel, is a seasonal crop grown during February to May
every year. The specialized Fuel Collection Team of the Company,
educates farmers also
regarding biodiversity and use of pesticides that comply with
Indian /International standards. The transportation of fuel
from field to plant
will be organized
by silent and environment friendly vehicles.
AIR & NOISE POLLUTION
FROM PLANT OPERATION
Equipments to
maintain dust particulate emission within the specified
limits of less than 100 PPM are designed to be installed. Noise
pollution shall be kept within limits
by acoustic shielding.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
Ash produced from the
plant would be disposed-off by land filling silos. Ash has
substantial phosphate content and is contemplated to be used as
fertilizer by farmers.
The project is designed for discharge of low effluent
thanks to use of Air Cooled Condenser that reduces 90% of
Water requirement. The Company is taking appropriate measures to
handle other wastes and effluent by installing effluent treatment
plant.
CO2 REPLACEMENT
Until the advent of
Biomass power plants, approximately 40%
of bio-fuel
was being used in brick kilns / animal feedstock / bio-fertilizer
etc and rest 60% surplus was burnt in the fields. With the
focus on
Bio- power plants, approximately 13% of total available biomass
would be used for power generation in the catchment area.
This effectively results into
equivalent CO2 replacement.
WATER CONSERVATION
The water requirement of the plant is as low as 90 meter cube/day due to
use of Air Cooled Condenser in the power cycle. With low water
usage, the generation of the effluents is also low which is
treated by low capacity effluent treatment plant. Rain harvesting
plant is set up for further conservation.
INNOVATIVE CHARACTER OF THE PROJECT TECHNOLOGY
WATER REQUIREMENTS
Keeping water scarcity of Rajasthan in view, the project has been
designed to use Air Cooled Condenser which limits water
requirement to 90% of water cooled condenser cycle. This design of
the project also reduces Effluents which limits water pollution.
STEAM PARAMETERS
This project is one of the few in 8 MW category which has been
designed at 68 bar /485 deg C, using mustard crop residue as
biomass fuel. The higher design steam parameters result into
competitive plant efficiency.
TRANSMISSION VOLTAGE
The voltage will step up to 132 KV at generator end to inject
power to Grid, thus reducing transmission losses.
OPERATING EFFICIENCY
The overall efficiency of the project is 23%, which is quite
competitive considering size of the plant and fuel type.
BENEFITS TO REGIONAL COMMUNITY
GENERATION OF DIRECT & INDIRECT EMPLOYMENT
The project will generate employment for 300 – 400
people in the region, out of which about 75-80 jobs shall
be directly located
within the plant. Indirect employment opportunities shall
get created in the area of de-centralized fuel collection chain,
fuel transportation to plant, infrastructure maintenance around
the plant and education & healthcare promotion activities.
The Company expects involvement of women in the project up to 30%
of direct & indirect employment.
ENVIRONMENT BENEFITS
This project is a clean energy power project and it shall not only
spare approx. 35,000 MT/annum coal consumption for same amount of
energy generation, but also protect the environment from further
deterioration due to
GHG emissions. The project will develop a green cover in the
region.
ECONOMIC
UPLIFTMENT
AND SOCIAL OBLIGATIONS
The plant will reap rich dividends to the regional society. It
will increase per capita income of the farmers by ensuring them
additional and regular income from sale of Biomass fuel. The
ancillary and self employed businesses shall also get impetus and
grow.
The management of the Company is committed to discharge corporate
and social obligations like fair working conditions in the plant,
education on safety acts and standards,
ensuring
entitled minimum wages, supporting development of local
infrastructure, conducting periodic workshops to arouse awareness
on agricultural development with new technologies, sharing
knowledge about green house gases & impact of environment change
on the life of local population and institutional initiatives on
education & healthcare for local community.
The chain process is bound to enhance prosperity in the
region and stimulate awareness for grooming a civilized society
with due care for rights & obligations.
TECHNOLOGICAL BENEFITS
The Fuel
Management
Team
of the Company,
comprising of specialists in Agricultural sciences extend
coaching, education and technological inputs to local farmers for
improvisation in farming and bringing about higher yield &
productivity.
